Creative Workshop 3
Creative Workshop 3
Date: 25 February 2021
For this workshop I was able to prepare a stimulus from an email
interview with participant one.
Workshop Aims:
·
Part one of workshop - Create a phrase from using the improvisation
method on the initial idea of an intrusive thought.
·
Part two of workshop - Develop this phrase by using levels – develop entire
phrase into floor work
Workshop Plan & Research
On the 31st January 2021, I received the completed interview
questions through email by participant one in which I was able to pull out language
to encourage my improvisation task on intrusive thoughts.
Question 4 within my interview : Do you have obsessive thoughts,
compulsions or both?
Participant Response to this question :
‘Both, once I get a thought in my head, it’s like a seed that
grows and grows, I have to carry out the compulsion to stop the thought
happening.’ (Participant One, 2021)
(For all evidence of interviews see appendices, within the PPC Portfolio.)
From this quote I will be able to create movement on the idea of having
a seed in my head. This influenced me to plan an improvisation task for myself
to participate in (see below)
Part One - Improvisation Task
- Begin with movement from the head, then focus onto other body parts such as shoulders and torso.
- Eventually the full body should be moving in and around the space.
- Imagine this seed / thought in your head is too overwhelming, frustrating and heavy for you head
- This can be interpreted in however way your body tells you.
Part Two – Teach phrase and develop it
through a change of level
Once I have completed this
improvisation task, I will then teach my dancers Nicole Kavanagh and Leah Wells.
Due to COVID- 19 circumstances, this workshop was only focused on these two
dancers within my living room because we share the same household.
Within this workshop I plan to adapt the phrase on the idea of a seed / thought in your head by experimenting with the creative method, levels. I would like to add a floor work section to the original seed phrase. Like the other workshops I have titled this phrase as the Seed Base Phrase.
Evidence and Reflecting
Video One – Seed Base Phrase with added
development of levels
Dancer: Leah Wells
This workshop was challenging within a small space however my dancers were open to adapting the phrase to fit the living room. Nicole and Leah contributed effectively to developing the motif on the floor. Another development of my choreographic skills is highlighted within my improvisation task. By making bullet points of what I would like to achieve within my improvisation, relevant movement was produced.
