Development Session Four:

Date: 12^th March 2021

Aims:

Develop Anya’s hand base phrase.

Evidence and Reflection

Anya’s hand base phrase did not need to be changed but I wanted to make it longer as it was quite short. During the developing session I decided to finalise this phrase by Anya doing the phrase facing the back in which Leah then enters stage to repeat the hand base phrase at the front.

Development Session Five

Date: 1^st April 2021

Aims:

Set Shay the task to extend his hand base phrase from upstage right travelling horizontally to upstage left, adding movements of calm during the quickness of his tapping.

Evidence and Reflection

Similar to Anya’s hand base phrase, Shay’s hand base phrase did not need much change I just wanted to extend it longer and for it to travel across the stage. The aim of this session was achieved as Shay clearly demonstrated slow to quick dynamics and added more movement.

Development Session Six

Date: 23^rd April 2021

Aims:

Develop unison hand base phrase

Develop (Nicole’s) unison hand base phrase

Evidence and Reflection

My unison sections are quite simplistic and lack in surprise therefore to change this I added a simultaneous canon after the unison hand base quartet, starting at different points within the same phrase.  

We tried repeating the phrase twice through simultaneous canon but this was no longer exciting and would lose the engagement of the audience. I then decided to set the simultaneous canon once through.

I was also intrigued to experiment with the second unison hand base phrase quartet created by Nicole. Through a range of what ifs I then decided to do another simultaneous canon split as two duets as it also worked well.
